Over Stimulation and Delayed Gratification
If you’re in a role where you can afford to go ghost socially without suffering huge setbacks in your career, consider this a jealous reminder that you don’t know what God has done for you.
Last week was hell for me.
I hope this newsletter finds you in good spirits, and I admit that at some point I was skeptical about publishing today’s piece. Today, I wanted to take a moment to share my personal experiences and reflections on the topics of handling stimulation and delayed gratification.
Handling Stimulation - Embracing Solitude in a Busy World
Multiple times last week, I found myself facing battling writer's block.
For the non-writers reading this, writer’s block is that frustrating feeling of staring at a blank page, the words refusing to flow.
Over the past years, I have wrestled with this creative challenge, and I've come to realize that the constant stimulation of the world around me has played a significant role in my struggle to focus.
Every day, I’m bombarded with so much information, notifications, and distractions at every turn that It becomes really difficult to find moments of quiet reflection and uninterrupted creativity. It’s in periods like this that the idea of stepping away from it all and "going ghost" for a while starts to appeal to me.
I’ve seen firsthand how disconnecting from social media and immersing myself in solitude can provide the much-needed clarity and space to reconnect with my creativity.

There’s a slight problem; I can’t.
My life’s choice as co-founder of Mytherapist.ng requires me to be online as much as possible so as not to miss opportunities, DMs, and important news that may impact my company’s success.
In fact, I see self-help / motivational tweets like in the screenshot below, and I go, “You lucky bast@rd”

Delayed Gratifications - The Power of Present Actions
I received some really good news this past week that it seemed as if I was on some winning streak;
Reflecting on my recent wins and failures, I have come to appreciate the importance of delayed gratification. It has become evident to me that the successes I celebrate today are often the outcomes of months of consistent effort, dedication, and strategic planning. On the flip side, the setbacks and failures I encounter can usually be traced back to areas where I may have fallen short in putting in the necessary work in the past.
This realization is teaching me the significance of embracing the present and taking deliberate actions toward my goals. Considering the fact that I have always been someone who believes in living in the moment and would rather work on my short-term goals.
If the reward was instant, I wanted it.
Now, I’m learning to play the long-term game.
I have learned that being present is not synonymous with being passive. It means recognizing that every decision, every action I take today has a ripple effect on my future.
I am learning that by embracing a proactive mindset and making conscious choices aligned with my aspirations, I can create a solid foundation for my desired outcomes.
I encourage you, dear reader, to reflect on your own experiences with handling stimulation and delayed gratification. How do you navigate the ever-present distractions of the modern world? What lessons have you learned from both your successes and setbacks?
